They (along with their siblings and mom) were put in a pillowcase and thrown in a creek. Two very brave boys waded in and grabbed the pillow case and by the time they got to shore, Yin and Yang were the only ones left alive. We named them brother and sister, but one morning I came out of my bedroom and they were asleep in the rocker, curled into each other, with their head on the other ones rump. Looking down they looked like a Yin/Yang sign...and after all, they were brother and sister, so I renamed them Yin and Yang.

The vet thinks Yang's dad was a Main coon, as he filled out very quickly and became a very big cat (15 lbs) and a broad head-lots of brown in his tabby coat. And then, Yin's dad was probably a Siamese...She is dainty, small boned, and now, in middle age, weighs all of 11 lbs and has very little brown on her...just black and white tabby. She had a white spot on the tip of her nose, and is very stand-offish to company. Yang, on the other hand, will cuddle up to anyone that will pet him!

Both of them love to sleep with me, but they don't get to do that often. They are not the best sleeping partners (although they think I am!) When bed time is rolling around, Yin will go hide under the bed because she knows I cannot crawl under after her. I get so aggravated with her, but she won't come out. But, I now have a trick. I bought a Roomba robot vacuum cleaner a few weeks ago, and both the kitties are not fond of it. So, I now send the roomba under the bed, and Yin runs out, stops at the door and gives me a look that says she thinks that was a mean thing to do, and then runs the rest of the way out while I quickly shut the door. She is so funny!

When they do get to sleep with me, Yin tries to bury under my left arm pit (can't think of anywhere I would like less to be) and then curls herself into a tight ball. Yang slept above my right shoulder and puts his head on my chest (so he can hear my heart beat). If I put my left hand up, he will cover a finger with his paw, like he is comforting me. The problem with sleeping with them is they take "cat naps" - I know, no kidding! They sleep for a couple hours and then they play-sometimes on my stomach...needless to say, it is not conducive for my sleep!

So, My kitties are wonderful. They enrich my life...mostly they love me (when they feel like it) and when I go away, they don't talk to me when I get home, until they are ready to eat...then they love me again! Life is so simple for them.
